  1. The first part reminded me of when I left Richmond for Florida and the Miami nightlife was full of cocaine and wastedness and an overall lacking of substance... it was total bummertown for me. And to top it off, not a whole lot of touring bands dipped that far down into Florida.

What industry are you working in? I have a few pals up there who I grew up with in Florida... Most of them are creative types / artists. None of them are on here, to my knowledge, but search for Marisa Jean if you're on FB and you should be able to find me through mutual friends. I could do the whole friend recommendation thing and drop a line and say a friend of mine just moved there from Richmond, yada yada. I think they'd embrace it.

Anyway. I know it could just as easily seem really awkward but I know how overwhelming it can be to be new somewhere, especially a big chaotic city, especially after the comfort of Richmond.
    answer:

It’s SO refreshing to hear other people tell me I’m not alone in feeling like this.  Moving is so hard.

I really do appreciate the offer, I’m SO down and open to making new friends, by any means.  I work full time at Urban Outfitters right now and part time as a personal assistant, plus I’m still trying to play music whenever possible so finding time to go out and make friends is really difficult.  I will definitely find you on Facebook.

BTW, for almost a year now I’ve been trying to decide whether or not I should move to Austin.  I’m in love with that city and the people I’ve met there.  I wear a necklace with a charm shaped like the state of Texas to remind me that not everywhere is as shitty as New York.
